The 7.2-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S750 features a retractable f/2.8-4.8, 35-105mm (35mm equivalent) 3x zoom lens and a 153,000-pixel, 2.5-inch LCD. The camera is an update to the DSC-S700 and offers a basic automatic feature set, with Auto and Program Auto modes, seven scene selections, and a High Sensitivity mode that goes up to ISO 1250. Other notable features include Sony’s most basic face-detection technology, adjustable flash levels, slow sync flash, and spot metering. The Sony Cyber-shot S750 will be available in March 2008 with a MSRP of $149.

The Sony Cyber-shot S750 has a few issues. Overall exposure is adequate in many cases, but image quality and color accuracy need improvement. Image noise is on the high side, and there’s a good deal of blurring from the camera’s effort to suppress that noise. The Sony S750 is inexpensive, easy to use, very portable, and results aren’t entirely terrible. Our printed results do show that it’s more of a 4×6-only camera, only capable of producing truly sharp 5×7-inch prints at ISO 100; raise the ISO any higher, you’re better sticking to 4×6-inch prints. Most 7-megapixel digital cameras are at least capable of printing sharp 11×14-inch prints, but the Sony S750’s output is too soft at that size.
