Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 (silver) Reviews

32775802-2-300-ovr-1.gif

Cyber-shot DSC-H10 budget megazoom camera, Sony didn’t change much from its predecessor, the Cyber-shot DSC-H3. Only its 230,000-pixel 3-inch LCD is new, compared with the 115,000-pixel, 2.5-inch version on the H3. Given the lack of an electronic viewfinder, that’s a nontrivial enhancement, but pretty much the only one.

The Olympus E-510 is a feature-packed 10 Megapixel DSLR based on the maturing Four Thirds standard. Announced alongside the tiny E-410 in March 2007, the new E-510 packs in a raft of features which include anti-dust, Live View, and built-in anti-shake facilities which work with any lens you attach; indeed it’s the very first Four Thirds DSLR to feature built-in stabilisation. Olympus FE-300 (Black) Reviews

g_00041792.jpg

Pixel count isn’t everything. While a 12-megapixel picture can potentially hold more details than an 8- or 10-megapixel picture, that doesn’t mean it always will. As you try to cram more and more pixels onto a small sensor, problems like noise tend to overtake the picture. Conversely, if you put fewer pixels on a large sensor, like the 6-megapixel Canon Rebel XT digital SLR, photos tend to come out looking much better even at the lower resolution. The Olympus FE-300 distinguishes itself as one of the lightest, least-expensive 12-megapixel cameras currently available. Unfortunately, its pictures pale in comparison to those from some higher-end, lower-resolution cameras. [Read the rest of this entry…]

Olympus Stylus 820 (Blue) Reviews

32552115-2-200-0.gifOlympus continues the Stylus line of digital cameras with the Stylus 820, an attractive 8-megapixel digital camera. This new model sports a 5x lens, a large, bright LCD screen, and a surprisingly useful new feature Olympus is debuting with its current generation of cameras. As we’ve come to expect from Olympus’ Stylus cameras, the Stylus 820 looks and feels good. The slim, all-metal camera weighs just 4.9 ounces with battery and xD card and measures less than an inch deep. Olympus offers the little camera in four colors: silver, black, blue, and red. Its sturdy body handles splashes and showers with ease, but don’t confuse weather-resistant for weatherproof; it won’t survive a full dunking. If you plan to soak your camera, consider instead the waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof Stylus 790 SW.

Olympus Stylus 790 SW (Orange) Reviews

oly_sty_sw790o.jpg

Olympus’ Stylus 790 SW, like the Stylus 770 SW before it, is tough enough to shoot in 10 feet of water or when it’s 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus, it can withstand drops of up to 5 feet, so if you’re klutzy, you won’t have to worry quite as much. If you swim deeper than most, the 770 SW might be better for you than this model, since it can operate down to about 33 feet. Other than that, a slightly different body design, and a new feature or two in the 790 SW, the two cameras are basically the same.
