Olympus FE-300 (Silver) Reviews

The FE-300 stands out by offering a full 12 megapixel of resolution at an affordable price (US$299.99 list). Only a few years ago, this would have been unthinkable, at any price. Add a high-res LCD, face recognition, image stabilization, and the FE-300 certainly is an attractive deal.
The FE-300 performed slowly in our lab tests, pausing for several seconds between each shot. After a 2.2-second time from power-on to first shot, we could snap a new picture once every 3.6 seconds with the onboard flash disabled. With the flash turned on, that wait bumped slightly to 3.8 seconds.
Olympus FE-300 Review From Digicmaera
We like:
* 12-megapixel!
* Bright hi-res 2.5-inch LCD with backlight boost
* 640 x 480 movies at a full 30 fps
* Advanced face detection mode
* Digital image stabilization with gyro assist
* 48MB onboard memory
* PreSet Shooting Mode lets you select best setting
* ISO up to 6400
Not so much:
* Can’t have sound and optical zoom together in movie mode
* No voice recording mode
* xD-Picture card harder to fnd and more expensive
* We prefer zoom rocker to a zoom ring around the shutter
Olympus FE-300 Review From digitalcamerareview
Pros:
* Solid metal body with nice styling
* Plenty of resolution in LCD
* Good battery life
* Easy to use
Cons:
* Average image quality
* No “fun” features that appeal to the target market, like color filters
* Noisy flash shots (especially when camera increases sensitivity to ISO800)
Olympus FE-300 Review From cnet
The good: Slim, light design; Perfect Shot Preview is a handy feature.
The bad: performance; poor picture quality, especially at high ISOs.
The bottom line: The Olympus FE-300 stands out as a surprisingly small, inexpensive 12-megapixel shooter, though its pictures aren’t as impressive as its price.
