Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Review
The Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS (the IXUS 80 IS in Europe / SE Asia). This model was announced only a few weeks ago, just before PMA in Las Vegas and is an upgrade to the previous SD1000 IS. Headline features include an eight megapixel sensor, a 3x zoom and a 2.5 inch high resolution LCD monitor, all wrapped up in an ultra compact body.
Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera Reviews:-
Pcmag.com about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera Review:- Canon introduced a few more features with the SD1100 IS, including an updated automatic white balance mode. Most cameras, including the SD1000, focus on the background or the entire scene in this mode. When the SD1100 IS is set to auto white balance, it focuses instead on a subject’s face, making for higher-quality portraits. I found this worked well, producing much better images overall. Along with the typical scene modes (there are eight total), the SD1100 IS adds a sunset mode.
Dcviews.com about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera Review:- Streamlining the image review process, Canon’s Intelligent Orientation Sensor determines whether a scene is being shot as a vertical or horizontal image and automatically adjusts it for quick and easy review on the camera’s bright, sharp and easy-to-read, 230,000-pixel 2.5 inch Pure Color LCD II screen. The Image Inspection Tool feature zooms in on faces automatically during playback to make it even easier to check facial expressions. The new cameras also feature Canon’s newly developed Automatic Red Eye Correction that engages in the shooting mode, minimizing the need for correction before printing or sharing images. In-Camera Trimming is yet another new advancement that allows users to adjust and save cropped versions of their images without using a computer. As an added convenience, the PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH cameras are compatible with MMC, MMC+ and HC MMC+ memory cards as well as standard SD and SDHC memory cards.
Reviews.cnet.com about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera Review:- Image quality from the SD1100 IS is quite nice for a camera of its class. Its automatic white balance does a good, but not perfect, job of neutralizing colors under a variety of light sources. It adds a bit of warmth to incandescent-lit shots and a touch of green to fluorescent, but does a great job in natural daylight. The camera’s tungsten setting did a good job of neutralizing the harsh yellow cast of our tungsten hot lights. While noise isn’t completely nonexistent at ISO 80, you’ll have to look quite closely to find any at this lowest sensitivity or at ISO 100, and both settings offer pleasingly sharp images with plenty of shadow detail. By ISO 200 you’ll start to notice noise, especially in shadows, though there is still plenty of sharpness to the images.
